Equipment and Modification Needed to Flat Tow 2000 Ford F150 Behind RV
Question:
I have a 2000 Ford F150 pick up with 2 wheel drive automatic transmission. Is it possible to flat tow this vehicle and what parts would I need?

According to my research, your 2000 Ford F150 would require a driveshaft disconnect in order to be flat towed without damaging the transmission.
Once a driveshaft disconnect has been installed, you'd need a base plate kit, a tow bar, safety cables, an electrical connection to power the vehicle's taillights and a supplemental braking system.
I really like the Blue Ox base plate/towbar systems. They are very well thought out, and I find their base plates to be easier to use. For a base plate, use part # BX2124. For a tow bar, go with the Blue Ox Alpha Tow bar, part # BX7380 which would also include the safety cables. The Alpha is self centering and locking, which allows you to hook up to the RV without the truck being perfectly centered behind the RV. For lighting, use the Hopkins Taillight Wiring Kit, part # HM56005 along with an umbilical like part # BX88254. For a supplemental braking system, I really like the Blue Ox Patriot, part # BLU37TR. The Patriot is a portable system, that will install in just a few minutes, rather than using hours of expensive labor to install a permanently connected system.
When the tow bar is installed, you'll want the towbar to be within 3 inches of level. The base plates will be 19 inches off the ground when installed assuming your F150 us using the stock tire size and ride height, so depending on your hitch height you might need a high-low adapter. You'll need to determine the height difference between the hitch on your RV and 19 inches and then choose the proper high-low adapter to place the tow bar within 3 inches of level. I'll link you to our selection of high-low adapters.
