How to Determine if a Gooseneck Hitch in a 2012 GMC Sierra 2500 Short Bed will Allow Turn Clearance

Question:

I like the draw tite hitch the best, and one added plus is the cover you can place over the whole when not using the hitch. Does the 5inch draw tite extender provide enough clearance for turning radius, doesnt seem like it would? Thanks for your help

Draw Tite does make great hitches like the part # 9465-56 which has been confirmed as a fit for your 2012 GMC Sierra 2500HD 6-1/2 foot bed.

Here is the formula you will need to use to determine if you would have enough clearance to make tight turns:

(A + B) - C = Clearance
A = Distance from the gooseneck ball to the truck cab (the ball will end up 44-7/8 inches from the rear edge of the truck bed when installed so measure forward from this point for A.)
B = Offset used, like if you used a Offset Extension Ball # 19308 (so 5 inches)
C = Width of the nose of the trailer divided by 2.
