5,200 lb Trailer Axle Recommendation
Question:
I have a dual axle trailer that was born as a boat trailer. It has been heavily reinforced but only has 2000 pound dual axles. I need to load a tractor at times and would like to upgrade to 5000 pound axles. I would need all hardware and tires to match. Can you recommend a kit of sorts that would include everything.

The only axles we offer that have a high enough weight capacity would be the Timbren setup like part # ASR5200S01. This is actually an "axle-less" system that attaches to the trailer frame and provides an axle setup that is somewhat similar to a torsion setup. If you are looking for more of a standard axle you would need to find a local trailer shop who can custom order you in what you would need.
For hub drums you would need the part # 8-201-5UC3-EZ and the brake assemblies # AKEBRK-7R-SA for right hand side and # AKEBRK-7L-SA for the left hand side. Then for wheel/tires part # AM3S870.
Since you are trying to upgrade the capacity of your trailer I would highly recommend you have it checked out by a local fabricator to see if the frame has been adequately reinforced. Check the capacity as well.
