Wiring Harness for Flat Towing 2004 Jeep Wrangler

Question:

I am flat towing a 2004 jeep wrangler. The tow vehicle is motor home with an 8 prong connector. Question Is there a wire harness to connect directly to the jeep tail lights? Thanks. I am using tow bar to connect the two together.

We can help you get set for flat towing your 2004 Jeep Wrangler with your motorhome, but we do not offer any wiring adapters for an 8-prong motorhome socket. Most motorhomes these days use a 7-way blade style connector like the one shown in the linked photo. You can convert the MH to a 7-way using a part like # 37185 or # PK12-707E. You'll just need to match up the functions; a circuit tester like # PTW2993 makes this easier.

We do have a plug-in flat towing harness for your 2004 Wrangler, part # HM56202. This connects at the Jeep taillights with plugs (no splicing) and provides wiring that leads up to the front of the vehicle for connection to the MH. Once you have the 7-way on the MH you can use a simple adapter like # PK12716 to connect the 4-pole tow wiring or you can splice in a 7-way plug on the car's wiring to replace the 4-pole; for this you can use part # H20043 and butt connectors # DW05745-10. This way you do not need the adapter.

You may care to review the linked article on flat towing. This details all the components required for safe and legal flat towing. Those components include the tow bar, toad wiring, safety cables, and base plates and a braking system for the toad.
