Ideas for Lowering Nose of Fifth Wheel Trailer that Hitch is as Low as Possible
Question:
what king pin will lower the front of my trailer? I currently have a 5th airborne king pin on my 2011 KZ Stoneridge and need to bring the nose down about 5 inches. The fifth wheel is already at its lowest point. I have almost 11 inches above my truck bed and it is definitely nose high. I do not want a sidewinder type hitch .

The pin boxes we offer are all designed to give around the same amount of height as the stock pin box they were designed to replace. None of them would allow you to reduce the height by 5 inches.
Check out the pin box as it is installed on your trailer. Typically you can raise the pin box up higher using different install bolt holes on the trailer which will allow the trailer nose to lower.
Your other options would be to lift the trailer's suspension.
You can do this by moving the axles from being above the leaf springs to below the leaf springs.
The diameter of your trailer axle will determine the size of the parts that you will need to order. If your axle is 3 inches diameter, the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit, # K71-385-00, would be a great choice and if your axle is 2-3/8 inch diameter you could use the Over-Under Kit, # K71-384-00. These kits can be installed without welding but the manufacturer strongly recommends having the new spring seat tacked in place on the other side of the trailer axle.
