How Much Power Does a 10 Inch Trailer Brake Assembly Draw
Question:
I am looking for a tow-bar interlock that would prevent moving the trailer under certain conditions. This would need to function like a parking brake. How much current does the electric brake require to engage? I need to calculate battery drain. Thanks,

On a 10 inch brake assembly such as # 23-468 the magnet draws 3.2 to 4 amps at 12 to 13 volts.
There are actually trailer brakes that have a parking brake feature such as # 23-113 that you can use with kit # T2385200. With this set up you would be able to manually set the brakes without worrying about battery drain.
The only issue is in electric drum brakes assemblies that have a parking brake feature only come in 12 inch assemblies # 23-113 and # 23-112.
