Installation of the Tekonsha #9030 Voyager Brake Activator, item # 39510, is a pretty universal undertaking. The main things that may change is if the vehicle has factory wiring for towing and installing a brake controller or not.

Your 2002 Ford F-150, may have a factory installed 7-Way connector at the rear of the vehicle. If so, all you will need is the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3035-P, to install a brake controller. This adapter will install under the dash and mate to a connector under the dash on the driver side, usually on the right.

If your truck has the factory 4-Way connector installed on the back then you will also need the Ford Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness, 7-Way, item # 118242, which will install inline with the connector found under the vehicle at the rear along the drivers side frame rail.

If you truck has no factory wiring you will need the adapter mentioned before, the Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole and 4 Pole, item # 37185, and the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring for the 2002 F-150 by Ford, item # 118344. Install the 4-Way inline with the vehicle tail light connectors. Then, install the # 37185 connector and splice into the wires in front of the connector along the driver's side frame rail. You will need to connect the blue wire on the adapter to the blue wire on the truck and the black wire on the adapter to the orange wire on the truck. If you need the center, reverse, light circuit connect the purple wire (sometimes yellow) from the adapter to the reverse light circuit using a circuit tester, item # PTW2993, to determine the correct wire to splice to.

We have a detailed explanation online (see link) for brake controller installation on the 1997-2004 Ford Trucks.
