Recommended 4-Bike Carrier for Use on Camper

Question:

Hi, I am wondering if the pro-series qslot 4 bike carrier will work on the back of a pull behind camper? Thanks. I was looking at buying that bike rack and adding the hollywood fat bike loops to it to carry both my regular mountain bikes and my fat bikes. Thanks.

I linked for you our main page for 4-bike RV-rated bike racks. These include both platform style racks like the bumper-mount Swagman # S80600 .

The Pro Series Q-Slot Platform-Style rack DISCONTINUED PS63138 is a great rack but it is not suitable for use on a camper or RV. We do have 4-bike carriers that will work for you.

Any accessory item like a bike rack or cargo carrier that is going to be installed on the back of an RV (either a trailer, pop-up camper or motor home) has to be specifically rated for such use. This is because of the extra motion that will be found at the rear of a trailer or camper. This extra motion increases along with the distance from the rear axle to the actual rack mounting point. The greater this distance, the more stress will be placed on the rack. RV bike racks are specially made to handle this extra stress.

Since some of your bikes have fat tires I suggest the Reese # 63124 or Swagman Original # S64400 hanging carriers which fit 2-inch hitch receivers.

Since a 4-bike rack can present a substantial total weight you'll want to check with the trailer maker to confirm it has enough capacity for your total bike weight load. Please feel free to let me know the year, make and model of your camper and I will be glad to research the best options for you. The two linked articles will also help guide you in selecting a carrier.
