Recommended Double-Eye Leaf Springs For Trailer With 3,500-Lb Axles

Question:

I have a dual axle trailer with 3500lb axles. I broke and replaced a leaf spring a couple of years ago. Other springs now look like they should be replaced and I have a question. I see there are springs of same length 25-1/8 that can support axles with higher rating. Is there benefit in using the higher rating spring? Are there downsides rougher ride, etc. or is it just not advisable to do so. Thanks!

You may find leaf springs that will fit your trailer and have a higher weight capacity rating, but the result can be a much stiffer ride. You can use springs if the ride does not matter but for the most part we advise using leaf springs that are all matched and designed for the trailer axle capacity.

The 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for a 3,500-lb axle I recommend is part # e54SR. This has the 25-1/8 inch eye-to-eye distance.

I have attached a link to a helpful article about double-eye trailer suspension you can check out.
