Thule OutWay Replacement Strap and Anti-Sway Cage Recommendation

Question:

I see that the replacement straps do NOT cover the raceway Pro 2 bike carrier. I received my bike carrier as a gift, used, and it did not come with the anti sway cages and some damaged straps. Also, the straps that ARE on it, are very very difficult to secure the holes seem too small. Is it possible the wrong part number was purchased previously when ordering straps do different part numbers have smaller strap holes or does it just require brute force to stretch the hole over the attachment point? I need 2 anti sway and 6 straps if the wrong straps are on my carrier. Thanks so much!! Also, the clips that have to be opened/closed to move the arms up and down are virtually impossible to open/close. Would it be safe to try WD-40 to loosen them up or do you recommend another means to lubricate it? I dont know if the bike carrier was left on my friends car in all weather or what, but it seems to need much TLC. Cant look a gift horse in the mouth, just want to make it right.

Expert Reply:

The correct replacement strap is part # 852-3006-001 and then the correct anti-sway cradle is part # TH8523486001 for your Thule Raceway Pro part # TH9001PRO. Judging by the picture you submitted it looks like you have the correct straps.

If it is cold out the straps may be difficult to stretch.

You can apply WD40 to the latches for releasing the arms as well to try and free them up.
