Can the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera Be Activated with Just a Switch

Question:

If I hook up the unit as directed with the 7 pin connector can I also run a hot wire with a switch so I can have the camera when desired. Will this cause any problems?

You can use the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 with a switch if desired so that you can turn it on whenever needed, but since it only has one way to turn it on you would not be able to also have it come on automatically when the vehicle is in reverse. You would have to pick between it coming on automatically while in reverse of having it switched so that you can turn it on whenever needed.

Basically you would just clip the wires that run to the 7-way connector and run them to a power and ground and then use a switch like the part # D16740 to turn it off and on.
