How to Determine if the Extension Cable for the Hopkins Backup Camera is Required

I have a 2013 ram 1500 quad cab do I need the 5ft ext cable for the hopkins back up camera?

The wire harness that comes with the Hopkins Backup Camera part # HM50002 is 19 feet 7 inches long. Most likely you wouldn't need the extension, but that will also depend on the bed length. You already have the longest cab style. You would need to measure from the rear of the vehicle up into the cab of the truck to determine if the 19 feet 7 inches of wire would be enough.

The extension cable would be part # HM3100504060. This will give you an additional 5 feet.

I attached an install video for this product on a similar truck that has a 4 door cab and the extension cable was needed so most likely you would need it too.
