Troubleshooting Yakima Lock Core that Won't Accept Key

Question:

I have a Yakima Skybox 18 Carbonite. One latch is working fine with the key. The other side of the box latch is locked and will not accept a key. Is it possible to access the broken latch from the inside even if it is locked to remove it and and replace it with this part?

If the lock core is not accepting the key the problem lies with it and not the latch like part # Y8880348.

If you can get the flap of the core to slide up you would want to use a spray lubricant like WD-40 and use the straw of it to direct the lubricant into the lock core. Let the core sit for a few minutes and try again. After doing this a couple time it should free up the lock core and allow the key to slide in. If it still doesn't want to turn you would want to insert the key several times to help work the lube into the tumblers to allow it to turn then.
