Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2003 Monaco Knight Motor Home

Hi Mike I bought the brake controller - for my QX56 you had recommended. now I need one for the same trailer put installed into my monaco knight rv 2003. should i buy the same one? please advise and send links

Actually, you can use the P2 brake controller, # 90885, you have and switch it back and forth between the RV and the QX56. You will just need a separate mount, # P7685, and a separate wiring harness.

The wiring harness is going to depend on how the brake controller will be installed on your RV. If your RV was built on a Ford F-53 chassis then you can use harness # 3035-P. The port to plug this in is located behind the instrument cluster, see picture.

If it is not an F-53 chassis and/or the brake controller will have to be hardwired into the vehicle you will need universal harness # 7894.

So let's say that the RV is not on a Ford F-53 chassis but has a 7-Way trailer connector. You would also need and installation kit, # 5506, and likely some additional wire, # 12-1-1, sold by the foot, to complete the installation. You can use the relevant parts of the help links I have included if you do need to hardwire in the controller.
