Can a Trailer with 175/80D13 Tires Be Upgraded to 14 inch Wheels

Question:

I purchased a boat and trailer with the galvanized saw blade 13inch rims and 175/80D13 tires. I was thinking about getting a nicer aluminum rim and thought about a 14. I was wondering if there is a 14inch trailer tire that would be the same size as what is on there now? Total weight is no more than 1500 lbs, including the trailer. It also has Vortex hubs. Thanks

Your current trailer tires that are 175/80R13 are 24.1 inches in overall diameter. To go with a 14 inch setup the smallest diameter available is the 205/75R14 which is 26.3 inches in overall diameter. That means you would have 1.1 inches less of fender well clearance.

You want to have a minimum of 3 inches between the tire and the fender when loaded if possible.

The part # AM32156 comes with the 205/75R14 tire size and the same 5 lug bolt pattern that your wheel has, so if you have the clearance this would be a great option.
