Is There A Torque Spec For Trailer Sway Control Hitch Ball
Question:
What is the proper torque for the sway control ball on the Curt 17200 friction sway control? I dont want to just blindly assume that it is the same as it would be for a 5/8inch grade 5 NC bolt. Thanks.

I called my contact at Curt and asked about the torque needed for the ball that the sway control is attached to on the trailer hitch.
They told me that there has never been a torque listed but if you would torque it to about 150 ft-lbs it will have no problems. There is no torque value in the installation instructions.
You want to periodically check all of the towing components to make sure they are all secure and ready to use.
