Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk
Question:
I noticed that none of the installation guides represent my 2015 trailhawk. Instead of plugs, there are large factory bolts installed in the attatchment points that I have not been able to remove because they are torqued on pretty good i guess. I have not seen these mentioned in any directions or videos- if I remove them, are they holding something in place? Any advice?

It sounds like your 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk has the 14mm bolts in place instead of the rubber plugs. These are usually found on models that have the factory tow hooks. You will remove the bolts to install the hitch. Since the bolts are on so tight you may need to use a breaker bar/cheater bar to get enough leverage to loosen them.
I checked with the hitch manufactures and all of the available hitches are designed to fit all models, including the Trailhawk, of the 2015 Jeep Renegade so you can use Curt hitch # C13269.
If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
For trailer wiring you can use # 118651 to add a 4-Way flat connector to the back of your Renegade.
