Troubleshooting Wiring Harness On 2015 Subaru Forester When Trailer Lights Do Not Work
Question:
I have the trailer wiring kit from you. Last year I had an issue where the wiring kit was shorting out my regular vehicle lights. I removed the trailer wiring kit and the issue resolved. I purchased a 2nd trailer wiring harness and now my trailer lights no longer work. I have tested the trailer lights with another vehicle and they work fine. Do you know where I can find a Subaru factory replacement T Connector that came installed in the car? The connector that the trailer wiring harness plugs into.

Before you replace the OEM harness on your Forester you may want to check a few things. First, check the fuse for the trailer connector in the passenger compartment fuse panel. From my research the trailer connector fuse is in the number 1 slot. You may find that you have a blown fuse and that is why the harnesses you have installed do not work.
If the fuses all check out okay, I recommend using a circuit tester like part # 40376 and have someone run through the functions while you test the pins on the OEM harness.
We do not offer the OEM harness replacement for your Forester. You may want to have your dealership check out the harness on your vehicle if you are unable to locate the problem.
