Availability of Wiring Adapter to Convert 12-Pin NATO Trailer Connector to 7-Way Blade Style
Question:
I have a millitary trailer that has a 12 pin nato male plug. Do you sell an adapter that will go from 12 pin male to a 7 flat blade that will go into my pickup truck? Thank You for your help

We do not offer any adapters to convert a 12-pin military trailer connector to a 7-way RV-style plug like that on part # H20043 but we can help you gather the parts you'll need to wire in a new trailer plug to match that on your pickup. We can also offer you an easier alternative.
To re-wire the trailer conector you'll need a wiring junction box # 38656, a trailer-side plug like the 4-foot # H20043 (or longer versions such as 6-foot # H20044 or 8-foot # H20046) and ring terminals like # DW05702-1 and # 44-5310A to make those connections inside the box. You will also need a vehicle to vehicle converter # 118158 to separate out the stop and turn signals from the 7-way, which are combined onto the same circuit on the truck. You can mount the converter inside the junction box. The truck left turn/stop and right turn/stop circuits (and ground) will connect to the yellow, green and white wires, respectively, on the left side of the converter. Use butt connectors # 05731-5 to make those wiring connections.
You will want to carefully review the functions on each wire on your trailer plug. Wire colors are NOT a reliable method for matching up the circuits/functions. You can refer to the linked article on trailer wiring for the functions carried on your 7-way and to the linked NATO document for the trailer's wiring functions. Match wires by function, not by color.
Or, if you want an easier and lower cost solution you could install a stand-alone trailer lighting kit like # TLL9RK and simply use an adapter like # PK12716 to connect it to your 7-way. For this method these are the only parts you need for lighting on the trailer.
