Location of Brake Controller Plug-In Port on 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser with Factory 7-Way Socket
Question:
Hello I have the Tekonsha P3 and 3040-P adapter which was easily installed in a 2014 Tundra with tow pkg the factory brake controller harness was exactly where your instructions described. I also want to be able to use the Tekonsha in a 2006 Land Cruiser, which has the factory hitch and 7-way connector already installed. I purchased an additional 3040-P adapter and an extra bracket for the P3 so I can swap as needed. My problem is I cannot locate the factory harness under the dash 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser. I removed the kick panel and foot rest, searched under the dash with plenty of light, but could not locate it. There are several connectors that look similar but they were all attached to something another harness or a port on one of the black boxes. The parking brake is a lever on the center console. Any assistance your staff can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks and I am happy to send pictures if needed, of course.

My technical contact at Tekonsha confirmed the two most probable locations for the brake controller port on your 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser with factory tow package. The most-likely spot is under the dash on an aluminum brace that supports the base of the steering column. The other place to check is behind the dash panel that holds the headlight switch.
Once you locate the port you can use your extra wiring adapter # 3040-P to install the P3 controller part # 90195.
