Hitch Availability for a Truck with Ambulance Body

Question:

I need to install a Class IV hitch on a 2009 Dodge Ram 3500 chassis with a Frazier ambulance box on the back. Which hitch would you recommend, and are there any measurements that I need to take before I make the purchase? Any concerns? I may also need to purchase an extension as the hitch will not stick out far enough to allow the connection. Id appreciate your advise.

I spoke to my contacts at Curt and Reese and the only styles of hitches that can be made to fit an ambulance body truck like yours are multi-fit hitches like the # 41990 that has a 16k capacity. This is a weld on hitch that would require either the 7 inch drop brackets part # 4907 or the 16 inch brackets part # 4916.

I also attached a link to a page that has all of the hitch extenders we carry. You should note that products like this cut the capacity of the hitch in half when used.
