Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector for Just Trailer Lights on a 2011 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
I would like to install a 4-pol 118496 trailer wire harness in my 2011 tacoma. I would then like to install a 4-pol to 7-pol adapter harness into a new 7-pol receptacle I installed in my bumper. I am looking for the PN for this adapter harness that will work with the 118496. I do not need brake controls.

Your best option is going to be # 30717. After you install the 4-Way # 118496 it will plug into this adapter. I can't say whether or not it will fit any factory mounting bracket though.
On this adapter the white wire will have to be grounded to the truck frame. The blue wire you will not need since you aren't going to use a brake controller. The black wire is for 12 volt power. It you need that then you will have to hardwire in that circuit using about 20 feet of wire # 10-1-1 and a 40 amp circuit breaker # PK54540. And the yellow wire is for reverse lights.
If you are looking for a harness that plugs into the back of a 7-Way then you may be able to use # PK11998 but only if the 7-Way you have, if you have one, looks like the picture I have included. To get it to work with the 4-Way you would cut the 4-Way end off and attach the 4-Ways yellow wire to the 7-Way's red wire, green and green go together, white and white go together, and brown and brown go together.
