While we and Curt have not heard of any issues with the rear sensors on your 2012 BMW 428i coupe for trailer hitch # C11367, take a look at the picture I have included showing an underside shot of the hitch installed on a vehicle.
If the sensors are behind that center section of the hitch then they will be blocked by the hitch.
If you plan on doing any towing the correct ball mount to use is # C45521. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. For trailer wiring you will need to visit a BMW dealer.
If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.
Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or cargo carrier) per their warranty requirements.
