Will Reverse Electric Lockout Work with a 7- to 5-Way Adapter on a 2012 Honda Pilot
Question:
I have a 2012 h0nda Pilot which has a female receiver for a 7 way male plug. I want to go from the vehicle to a venture trailer with conventional lighting system which has 5 plugs. I think it is conventional, because I did not pay extra for LED lights. Once I purchase the adapter you recommend, Will it be necessary to put in the push pin on the trailer coupler when I back up? I will thank you in advance.

It sounds like the trailer has a manual reverse lockout feature. This means that you would have to physically go back to the coupler and move a lever or insert a pin to prevent the brakes from engaging when going in reverse.
The other type is an electric reverse lockout. This works using a solenoid, such as # T4748800 or # DM5404, attached at the back of the master cylinder on the coupler. It will have a ground wire and a power wire. The power wire is connected to the reverse circuit on the trailer connector. When the vehicle is placed in reverse the electrical signal powers the solenoid which prevents brake fluid from getting to the brakes.
If you have the first type, a manual lockout, then you would not be able to just put the vehicle in reverse and back up without the brakes engaging unless you installed a reverse electric lockout solenoid. I would need to know the manufacturer and model actuating coupler you have to determine if we have one that will fit.
If you do have a solenoid at the back of the master cylinder and it is wired up and ready to go then using a 7-Way to 5-Way adapter such as # A75TB would power that solenoid (provided the reverse light circuit is functional on the vehicle side center pin).
