Trailer Wiring Harness Does Not have Power After Installation on a 2010 Honda Pilot

Question:

I just installed the 118491 on my 2010 Honda Pilot. I followed the instructions and also watched a few videos on line. It was easy to install and everything went fine, except when I test the plug at the tow hitch, the circuit tester isnt lighting up. I havent tested the unit using the trailer yet, because its out of state. I wanted to make sure everything is working correctly before heading on my trip. The kit is new and Ive checked and rechecked all the connections and fuses to ensure I didnt miss anything. The circuit tester works and Im confident everything is installed correctly. Any advice?

It is possible that there is another fuse, that should already be present on your 2010 Honda Pilot, that provides power and allows the wiring harness # 118491 to function. In the secondary underhood fuse panel the trailer main fuse is in location 3. There is also one for trailer brakes in location 14 and the 12 volt circuit in location 17.

I am not sure what kind of tester you have but some of them can be sensitive and require a very good ground connection so that could be another possible scenario.
