Round LED Trailer Tail Lights to Replace Peterson Incandescent Lights
Question:
I hope you can answer a few questions for me. I am wanting to convert my 6 trailers from incandescent to LED, and currently have the Peterson style mounting brackets. What I had hoped for was to find an LED fixture of about 3 inches with 2 tapped studs out of the back and wires coming out of the fixture instead of the 3 prong plug typically found on LED fixtures, so that I could use the trailer as a ground as I have been. But it appears that a four inch fixture is the smallest available, correct? Is 4 inch minimum a law? Anyway, please let me know if what I am wanting is available. Thanks very much for your help.

Three inches is small for a tail light. There aren't even any incandescent stop, tail, and turn lights as small as 3 inches. It looks like to get what you want you will need to got to a 4 inch light.
If you like the Peterson lights and need a flush mount that mounts in a grommet you could use # 435800. It does use the plug-in style connector but you would still hardwire all of the wires, including the grounds, to the trailer. This light includes the grommet and pigtail.
I have included links to this and other 4 inch diameter LED tail lights for you.
