The Pollak Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # HM40975-11933, is a replacement connector for the Dodge Ram trucks with the factory plug under the truck on the drivers side.

If your 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 does not have the factory trailer wiring harness available, then you will need to use the Draw-Tite Wiring Harness, # 119178KIT, and the 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. That will give you the 7 and 4 Way connector at the rear of the truck.

The part # 119178KIT wiring harness installs behind the vehicles taillights and comes with a circuit tester so you can find the correct wires on the taillights and connect to the correct wires on the wiring harness. It provides a 4-Way connector at the rear of the truck.

You will plug that 4-Way connector into the 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7 and then hardwire the remaining wires to the vehicle. If you are not using a brake controller then you will only need to wire the white and black wire.

The white wire is ground, it needs to be attached to the vehicle frame. The black is 12 volt power lead wire, it goes to the vehicles positive battery terminal, with the inline 40amp circuit breaker included in the # ETBC7 kit.

The blue is for electric brakes, it will only be used if you are installing a brake controller. It will connect to the blue electric brake wire coming from the brake controller in the vehicle cab. The purple wire is an auxiliary wire, and can be used as a 12 volt power source, or to power a reverse light or reverse lockout function if needed.

If the blue wire and purple wire are not used, these wires can be taped and tied up out of the way.

I am sending a link to the installation instructions for the #ETBC7 kit.
