Recommended Brake Controller For 2007 Safari Trek Motor Home
Question:
I have a 2007 Safari TREK motor home and tow a 24ft enclosed trailer with electric brakes. This will be the only trailer I tow. Can you recommend a controller? The motor home has a 7 way connector Just to be sure 6 in a circle and one in the middle, blade type. Has the 4 pole combo.. No air brakes but does have an exhaust brake.

For a brake controller I recommend the Prodigy P2, part # 90885. This is our most popular because it is easy to install and operate.
To install the P2 you will need to locate wires on your Safari to hook the P2 to. The white wire will need to be attached to a clean bare metal surface and is the ground.
The blue wire will need to be run to the 5-o'clock position on the 7-way connector at the back of your motor home. You can use brake wire like part # 10-1-1, which is sold by the foot. I have attached a photo that shows which wire location you should use.
The black wire needs to be run to the positive post on your battery. You can use # 10-1-1 for that as well or you can use our jacketed 2 wire, part # 10-2-1. You would just remove the outer jacket and you can use the 10 gauge wires. You will need to use an inline breaker like part # 7012A for this wire.
If you do not have a stop light switch at the top of your brake pedal under the dash, you will need to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the wires and find the wire that only shows current when the brake pedal is pressed. Or you can check the fuse panel and find the stop light or brake fuse and use a fuse tap like part # F2526.
