Trailer Hitch and Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2012 Subaru Forester
Question:
Hi, I have a Subaru forester 2012 2.5x touring, I want to get the Curt hitch part no.13147. My questions are which wiring kit should I get, is curt better then tow ready?? Then Im looking at getting a brake controler, something easy to use since it will be my first time!! I was looking a the curt triflex Part Numbers: C51140,C51515 and the Primus IQ Code: TK90160 don t know which one is the best and if its a good choice. Does the subaru already have a connector for this or if I need to get special wiring kit? To wrap up, I need a hitch, wiring kit, brake controler and wiring for that if necessary. Thank you for your time.

For your 2012 Subaru Forester the Curt Hitch part # 13147 has been confirmed as a fit. For trailer wiring we tend to have better luck with the Tow Ready brand so I would recommend the part # 118467.
From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
