Bike Rack Recommendation for a RV that Has Rear Mounted Spare Tire on Bumper

Question:

Hi: I am looking for a rack that can carry with easy access two mountain bikes, double suspension, each weighing around 30 pounds. The camper has a 2 inch hitch receiver, which we use to set up a cargo carrier with a box on top of it. As the picture shows, the camper has a spare tire mounted on a bumper attached rack with a single rod/screw holding the tire in place. I am open removing the spare tire and using the available rack, though I am afraid that the two bikes will extend where the cargo carrier/box are located. The ladder in the rear is 11 inches wide 12 at the steps and the railing is 1 in in diameter. The bikes have a somewhat tilted seat stay due to the attachment of the rear suspension specialized stumpjumper and scott genius. The camper is a Tiger, which is assembled on an Astro van 1991. Thanks much.

The picture you submitted turned out to be an interesting piece of wood, but based on what you described it sounds like a ladder bike rack like the part # LA-102 that you referenced could work well.

But for a bike rack that would work better most likely you should check out the # S80501. This should fit around the spare tire mounted on your rear bumper and provide you with the ability to carry 2 bikes.

If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Swagman Easy-Out Women's and Alternative Frame Bike Adapter # 64005 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
