Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2014 Toyota Corolla
Question:
Hi I was looking to get a hitch for my 2014 Corolla and a bike rack. I found a few bike racks that are Class I compatible but am wondering if they can hold 4 bikes? The one video I watched stated that they were installing a 4 bike carrier but because it was a Class I you could only carry 2 bikes. Just a bit confused about the bike capacity and which class Id need. Thanks

The Curt # C11265 and Draw-Tite # 24913 trailer hitches that are designed to fit your 2014 Toyota Corolla are all Class I rated trailer hitches. Our manufacturers do not make hitches with higher class ratings to fit your vehicle.
As you saw in a video, having a Class I hitch does mean that hitch mount bike racks are limited to carrying only 2 bikes. There are 4 bike carriers that will fit in a Class I hitch receiver, but they are limited to carrying only 2 bikes when used with a Class I hitch.
I have attached a help article on how to choose a hitch mounted bike rack for you.
For your 2014 Toyota Corolla, I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24913. This hitch is a budget-friendly trailer hitch, but does not require the use of stabilization straps like the Curt hitch does. I have attached an installation video of this hitch on a 2014 Corolla for you.
Our most popular hitch mount 2 bike rack for Class I hitches is the Swagman XTC-2 Platform Rack # S64670. The platform rack will secure your bike at the wheels as well as at the frame. To give you better ground clearance, this shank of this bike rack has a 3 inch rise. I have attached a review video of this rack on a 2014 Corolla for you.
If you need to carry more than 2 bikes, additional bikes could be carried with a roof rack and roof mount bike carriers. A great roof rack option for your Corolla is the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA118B-2, with legs # RRRLKVA, and custom clamps and pads # DK383. The Thule UpRide Wheel Mount Bike Carrier # TH599000 is a great option for a roof mount bike rack. The carrier secures the bike at the wheel, allowing it to support a variety of bikes and not requiring the front wheel to be removed.
