Trailer Wiring Harness for 2007 Ford Mustang
Question:
I have a 2007 Ford Mustang v6. I have a hitch installed but am looking for a way to wire the trailer wires into the car. What wiring kit do I need?

I'd recommend the # 18252, from Draw-Tite. To install, you'd use the included circuit tester to probe the wiring harnesses behind the taillight assemblies. Beginning on the driver's side, have a helper turn on the left turn signal, and use the tester to probe the wires until you find the one that makes the light on the tester blink. Tap the yellow wire into that circuit. Ground the white wire to the body of the vehicle, using an existing ground. Turn on the running lights, probe the wires until you find the wire that makes the tester illuminate, tap the brown wire into that circuit. Go to the passenger taillight wiring harness, and with the right turn signal turned on, probe the wires until you find the circuit that makes the tester blink. Tap the green wire into that circuit.
I'll link you to an install video showing the same wiring being installed on an older Ford Focus. The wire colors might be different, but the procedure would be the same.
The # C59496 you'd looked at would work as well, it would provide circuit protection that would isolate the wiring of the vehicle from any short circuits that might occur in the trailer wiring. The installation would be the same as outlined above, only the red wire would be grounded with the white wire, and the black wire would be ran under the vehicle to the positive battery terminal. If you want to use this wiring harness, I'll link you to an FAQ article that shows how to route the wire to the front of the vehicle.
If you don't already have a ball mount, use part # 3592. For a trailer ball, use # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 19258 for a 2 inch ball.
