Flat Tow and Trailer Wiring Needed for 2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ

Question:

I have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ that I need to wire for towing behind my RV, and also to tow with my Jeep so that I can tow my boat with the Jeep. Do I need 2 different wiring harnesses? Could you please link me to what I need? Thanks!

The wiring needed for flat towing and trailer towing are going to be two separate harnesses.

Let's start with the wiring needed to flat tow your 2003 Jeep TJ behind your RV. For this you can use Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, # RM-154.

The Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, # RM-154, is designed for RVs with a 4-way flat. If your RV is equipped with a 7-way, you will also need the Blue Ox 7-Wire to 6-Wire Coiled Electrical Cord, # BX88206. In this case you will need to cut off the 4 way connector on the newly installed wiring kit and upgrade to the 6-pole which is included with part # BX88206. I have included a video which goes over this process.

As for the wiring needed to tow a boat with your Jeep, you can use T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118409. This will plug directly into the existing wiring and will provide you with a 4-way at the back of the Jeep. Assuming that your boat trailer is equipped with a 7-way, you will also need to install the Universal Installation Kit, # ETBC7.

If your boat trailer is equipped with a different connector, please send me an email and I will be happy to recommend the additional parts needed to complete the set-up.
