Is Brake Controller Power Supply Wire Attached To Constant 12V Power

Question:

On the P2 brake controller... does the 12v power to the controller have to be constant or when you turn on the ignition? Please advise, Thanks

If you are hard wiring a brake controller the black wire coming out of the Prodigy P2, part # 90885 is routed to the positive post on the battery via a 20-amp (or 30-amp) breaker under the hood.

If your vehicle has a brake controller port to plug a harness into, the pin for the 12 volt power is hot all the time as well.

since it is only an LED draw on the power, it would take a very long time for the brake controller to drain the battery.
