Recommendation For Carrying 4 Bikes On Rpod 182 Camping Trailer

Question:

I have an Rpod 182 camping trailer. It has a 1 1/4inch hitch on the back. The trailer came with a 2 bike trailer hitch mount but I want to haul 4 bikes. Would it be ok to put 4 mountain bikes on the back of the trailer? I am always concerned about weight placement when hauling. Is there a specific brand or model you would recommend that works best with the Rpod? I am pulling with a Toyota Sequoia so I would prefer not to put bikes on the roof since the vehicle height is already pretty high. Thanks so much for your assistance on this!

For you to be able to carry 4 bikes on your Rpod I recommend the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Trailer-Mounted Bike Rack Carrier, part # CC-275. This carrier is designed to fit a-frame trailers and use a 2 inch bike carrier. The mounting brackets measure 8 inches tall x 4-3/4 inches wide x 2 inches deep, and it has a weight capacity of 100 lbs.

The bike carrier I recommend to use with the CC-275 is the Swagman # S64400 Original 4-Bike Carrier. This is designed for 2 inch receiver openings and will hold 4 bikes. This bike carrier weighs about 32 lbs.

If you find the weight of 4 bikes along with the carrier weight exceeds the 100 lb limit of the CC-275, I recommend putting one bike in the trailer and using the carrier for the remaining three.
