Recommended Options For Carrying Canoe On 2006 Honda Pilot With Naked Roof

Question:

I have a naked roof 2006 Honda Pilot that I would like to start using to transport a 14.5 foot canoe. Would you recommend the Darby Extend a truck or Turbo rack? Or another product all together?

For an economical solution for carrying a canoe on the roof of your 2006 Honda Pilot I recommend theRightline Gear Roof-Mounted Kayak Carrier, part # RL100K10. The foam blocks simply sit on the roof of your Pilot and this includes the tie-downs that go through the interior of the vehicle.

The bow/stern tie-downs are also included with this system. This system has a weight capacity of 130 lbs.

For a roof rack I recommend the Thule SquareBar Roof Rack. This roof rack includes 60 inch square steel crossbars # TH712500, the Evo clamp feet # TH710501, and a custom fit kit # TH145191 that helps secure the roof rack to the roof of your Pilot.

If you decide on a roof rack I recommend the Thule Portage Canoe Carrier, par # TH819. This attaches to the roof rack crossbars and includes tie-down straps to secure the canoe to the roof rack and also includes tie-downs that secure the bow and stern of the canoe to the vehicle.

You will want to make sure anything you place on the roof of your Pilot does not exceed the roof weight carrying capacity.
