Generally speaking, most vehicle roofs can handle between 100 and 150 lbs, but I'd recommend checking with the owner's manual or with Chevy.

Although the Rightline # RL100S20 has the ability to strap directly to the roof by running the straps through the interior of the vehicle, I prefer to see a roof rack used as an attachment point. Running the mounting straps through the vehicle compromises head room and can allow water to wick into the interior of the vehicle if it should rain.

Rhino Rack offers a reasonably priced roof rack for your Traverse that can be assembled from the following parts:

Rhino Rack 2500 Series Aero Crossbar, part # RRVA137B-2
Leg Kit, part # RRRLKVA
Vehicle specific clamp kit, part # DK297

The rack has a 165 lb capacity, which could be limited by the capacity of your roof if it's less than the capacity of the rack.

I've linked you to some FAQ articles that you might find helpful.
