Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 2013 Dodge Grand Carvan SXT
Question:
I have a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. I want to tow a pop up camper. The dealer told me it has a weight of 2000 lbs with out a weight distribution system and 3800 lbs with one. T just ordered a hitch and wiring kit from etrailer. What weight distribution system do I need and do I need a sway set up? I was looking at the #RP65509 set up. Thanks,

Sounds like your vehicle has a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs when not using a weight distribution system and 3,800 lbs when using one.
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
Considering the tongue weight of a trailer that would fit the towing capacities you listed theReese WD system part # RP65509 that you referenced would be a good choice as it can handle tongue weights up to 600 lbs.
For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
