Compatibility of Reese Goose Box Replacement King Pin with Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

I have 2009 Ford F-450 with a Waymires flip-over Gooseneck hitch. In reading through the different applications there seems to be some compatibility question not only with the 5th wheels king pin but also with the gooseneck device installed in the truck. For instance the BW adapter mentions it is specific for a BW gooseneck hitch. Will the Reese Goose Box 5th Wheel Adaptor 20K work with a Waymires gooseneck device? If not, is there an adaptor you would recommend. Im planning to buy a 43foot Jayco Pinnacle with a gross weigh when loaded of about 16K to 17K lbs.

A Reese Goose Box replacement 5th wheel pin box, such as # RP85FR that replaces a Lippert 1621 pin box, will fit on any 2-5/16-inch goose neck ball. The Goose Box adapts a 5th wheel trailer to a goose neck hitch without need for any additional adapters. The Goose Box IS the adapter.

There are other types of adapters that allow a 5th wheel trailer to be towed by a goose neck hitch and the linked article describes all types. The Goose Box is the absolute best way to tow a 5th wheel with a goose neck hitch because this product does NOT add any stress to the trailer's frame. Other types of adapters DO add stress and some trailer makers will void your frame warranty if you use any type of adapter other than a Goose Box.

The key is to match one of the available Reese products to the original pin box on the trailer. The linked page shows you all three Goose Box versions we offer. You'll just need to confirm the original pin box part number to match up the appropriate Reese Goose Box.

Some trucks, such as flatbeds that have a goose neck ball down in a recess, can be a more complex fit for a Goose Box but often they will still work.
