Class II or Class III Hitch Recommendation for a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
Question:
Hello, I am deciding between a class II and class III hitch for a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. They are both stronger than the capacity of the van, so I am not worried about the strength. But I read somewhere that the class III can function as a load distributing hitch where the class II cannot. Is this your understanding as well or does this sound like bad information? Thanks,

When available I always recommend going with a Class III hitch over a Class II because the hitch will have more capacity and because there are more hitch accessories available for 2 inch hitches than 1-1/4 inch hitches.
The Class III hitches available for your 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan can be used with weight distribution. If you have stow n go seats you would want the part # 75305, if you do not have them you would want the # 75119 instead.
I attached install videos for both hitches I mentioned plus a help article on weight distribution systems.
