I have a solution for you, and you can use ratchet straps to support your boat once you have it in the air. However, we do not recommend raising or lowering the boat with ratchet straps. The ratchet straps are rated for use as tie-downs, not as lifts. Additionally, there is no safe way to control the speed at which the boat is lowered with the ratchet straps.
Fulton High Performance Brake Winch # F143100. This winch is capable of handling up to 1,500 pounds and has a self-activating brake whenever the handle is released. You can use # DL24100 cable, # DL24362 cable fastener, and # BDW20004 winch pulley block with this hand winch.

To support your boat once it is in the air, I recommend the Erickson Ratchet Tie-Down Strap # EM51314. This part number comes with one strap. These straps have a working load limit of 1,000 pounds each. These straps have floating rings that allow you more freedom when deciding where to attach the straps to the boat. I called Erickson to make sure, and there is no temperature rating on the ratchet straps, so you should have no problem using them in -30 degree F temps.

For a wider strap, I recommend the Highland Tow Strap # H10175. This part number is for one strap. The strap is 2 inches wide and 15 feet long, with a working load limit of 3,300 pounds.
