Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Install Where all Circuits Are Active
Question:
After wiring the kit according to the instructions, the lights on the tester are all on, even though only the tail light indicators should be on. Is this the correct kit for this car? There are two bulbs on the car for the tail lights, one of which is also the brake light. I think this is causing the brake lights to always be on on the trailer. I tried to attached a few photos that show the connections/install, and show the tester connected when only the headlights/running lights were on. no brake, no blinkers

If all of the circuits of your trailer harness are illuminating all of the time that would indicate that you did not wire up the harness correctly.
It sounds like the problem is the taillight circuit you used for the harness. You would want to use the circuit that only sees voltage when the running lights are on and not one that is connected to the brake lights.
