Replacement Trailer Tire ST205/75D/15 to Replace 11 Year Old Tire

Question:

I have a pair of 11 yr. old trailer tires size ST205/75D/15 tires that have very few miles on them and look new. Trailer has been kept garaged. Do you think these tires are still good and safe to pull? I need too go on a 225 mile round trip and come back with a load. I dont want to buy new tires if these will work for me. Thanks,

Helpful Expert Reply:

Typically trailer tires are only good for 7 years. If yours are 11 years old I would strongly recommend you replace them.

For new tires I would recommend the # TTWTRTM2057515C as these are radials in the same size as you have.

A radial tire flexes more than a bias tire, giving it better ground contact, traction, stability, and tread wear.

A radial tire will normally run cooler than a bias ply tire, especially when the tire is under a load. A tire that runs cooler will last longer.
