Which Class I Ball Mount to Use with Draw-Tite Hitch # 24756 for 4-Inch Rise on 2008 Chevrolet HHR
Question:
Will this ball mount work on my 2008 HHR LT using Draw-Tite hitch part number 24756 and what is the total rise to the bottom of the ball? My HHR hitch is 10 1/2 inches from the ground to top of the inside of the receiver and from the center pin to the outermost point on the bumper is 5-1/2 inches. The top of my trailer tongue is 14 inches high.

Expert Reply:
Draw-Tite hitch # 24756 is a light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch that installs in your 2008 Chevrolet HHR without need to drill any new holes on the car's frame. It requires use of a compatible Class I ball mount # 3594 which offers a 4-inch rise. With this ball mount you can use 1-7/8-inch hitch ball # 19256.
If you refer to the linked photo you'll see the mount's dimensions. This 10-inch-long ball mount will provide both enough clearance at your bumper and the required 4-inch height rise to keep your hitched trailer level.
