Options for Increasing Height of Boat Trailer for Better Ground Clearance

Question:

I have a 1996, painted steel, single axle, Ski boat trailer that rides too low. The steel cage that is mean to protect the prop and rudder is hanging low and drags on boat ramps and driveway bumps. It has leaf springs that are u-bolted to the frame and it looks like I could replace the u-bolts and add a piece of steel under the spring to lift the frame off the axle. I want to lift it approx 3-4 inches. Can you recommend a kit or parts to do this? I can send pics if that would help. Thanks.

We do offer round axle over-under conversion kits that will raise a trailer's height. We offer kit # K71-385-00 for 3-inch axle and kit # K71-384-00 for 2-3/8-inch round axles that have double-eye leaf spring suspensions. These allow moving the trailer leaf springs to the top of the axle and give height increases of approximately 4- and 3-inches, respectively.

Another option is to install taller spring hangers on the trailer. The linked page will show you all spring hangers for double-eye springs and the filters on the page let you select your preferred hanger height, which ranges from 1-1/4-inches to 4-1/4-inches. The tallest hanger is part # E4139.
