Comparing Reese and Curt Sidewinder Wedges for Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
Question:
What is the difference in the Reese #30861 custom Sidewinder wedge and the Curt #C16991 custom Sidewinder wedge other than the price? They appear to be a different shape, but yet made for the same hitch. Is there any reason I should pay $15.00 more for the Reese brand over the Curt brand? Does the Curt brand work as well as the Reese brand?

Expert Reply:
The Reese custom wedge # 30861 is flared out at one end so it should fit and lock out the pivot at the E16 hitch better than the rectangular Curt wedge # C16991. But since both fit the same hitch you could go with either one. As long as the wedge you use successfully locks out the pivot at the hitch then it will work.
