How Far Away from the Boat Should Upright Guide-Ons Be

Question:

I have a Boston Whaler Sport 130. The widest part of the hull is about mid length and is 69 inches across. The back of the boat is 66.5 inches wide. Is there enough flexibility for the guides to flex 1.25 inches each, so the boat can squeeze in and end up relatively tight in the back?

Expert Reply:

When you set up a set of guide ons like the part # CE27640 you wouldn't want them to contact both sides of the boat at the same time. You would want an inch or two of clearance between the boat and the uprights. With the appropriate amount of clearance your boat that is wider in the middle wouldn't be an issue.
