Availability of an Adapter to Use the Titan Hitch Extender # RP45292 with a 2 Inch Hitch
Question:
I have 2007 F350 8 foot bed truck and a Lance slide in camper with overhang. The truck was factory equipped with a 2 hitch as part of the tow package. I need an extension approximately 34 to tow a small boat. The boat and trailer weigh approximately 2000 pounds and has 120 pound tongue weight. Can I use a solid 2 inch sleeve ed and welded to your extension to adapt to my 2 receiver down from 2 1/2 that you have available, or is a 2 solid steel bar an acceptable substitute? Any information would be appreciated.

I cannot recommend either of the situations that you mentioned for safety reasons. If you were to make a reducer for the Titan Hitch Box Extension for 2-1/2 inch Trailer Hitches, 24-34 inches, item # RP45292, it would lower the weight carrying capacity of the hitch and the extension and could cause an unsafe towing condition.
A solid steel bar while it seems very sturdy would most likely have less weight carrying capacity than a square tube extension like the Titan extension.
The best recommendation I have for your situation is to upgrade to the Draw-Tite Hitch, item # DT45508, and then you will be able to use the Titan Hitch Box Extension, item # RP45292, along with a 7-Way Connector 7 foot Loop, item # 20027, to extend the electrical connection from the truck to the end of the extension. You may also need a drawbar, item # 45123, and a properly sized hitch ball, item # 63836 or # A-90 to use in the Titan Hitch when the extension is not needed. You can eliminate the need for a new drawbar and hitch ball by using the Curt Reducer Sleeve 2-1/2 inch to 2 inch, item # C45405, and your existing drawbar.
