Weight Distribution for a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee towing a 4K 2007 Fleetwood Arcadia
Question:
Im looking the right size WD hitch setup.My TV is a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD with a 4.7l engine. Im towing an 07 Fleetwood Arcadia popup thats 3075lbs unloaded and has a GVWR of 3970 lbs. I measured my trailer tongue weight at 420 lbs. Id like to eliminate the squat in the rear of my jeep when towing and Im unsure if I need a WD hitch with a TW rating of 550, 600 or 750 lbs. I didnt account for anything that might be loaded in the jeep when towing I thought I read that that weight needs to get added to the tongue weight? I dont seem to see the weight RANGES listed on these product, only the maximums. My trailer takes a 2inch ball. What system wold you recommend?

To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
Not all weight distribution systems list a tongue weight capacity range but not to worry because that's what I'm here for!
If the total tongue weight does end up being 420 pounds then going with a system rated up to 550 pounds, # PS49901, will work well.
If the tongue weight is between 550 and 750 pounds then go with # PS49582. It seems unlikely that the tongue weight would exceed 750 pounds based on the trailer's gross weight capacity.
For a 2 inch ball that will work with any of the above system use # A-90. I have included some helpful links on determining tongue weight and weight distribution for you.
