Is a Brake Light Relay Needed with a Brake Buddy to Flat Tow a 2014 Chevy Equinox Behind an RV

I will be using a brake buddy for supplement braking. Do I need the RM-88400? I will purchase the diode complete set up from your company.

Expert Reply:
On a 2014 Chevy Equinox you should NOT have to use brake light relay when flat towing the vehicle. You may however need a 12 volt outlet kit # RM-9332 and will most likely need a stop light switch kit # RM-751439 for the system to work properly and so you know the brake pedal in the Equinox is actually moving. I have included links to some videos showing how these parts install.
Check your owners manual because it looks like a fuse has to be pulled to flat tow your Equinox. To make this as easy as flipping a switch you can use fuse bypass # RM76511. I have linked a video showing how it installs as well.
